Title: RE: IPX RIP Updates

IPX RIP Packets are advertised every 60 seconds as are IPX SAP Packets...A lot of Implementations stagger the two protocols to lessen the broadcasts simultaneously. (RIP SAP RIP SAP )  This is still broadcasting every 60 seconds though.

Subject: IPX RIP Updates

My CCDA Study Guide has conflicting statements concerning the update

frequency of IPX RIP. One place says 30 secs, same as IP RIP; another table

says 60 secs. Which is correct? Please help, my CCDA exam is Friday

afternoon. Thanks

Novell is very fond of things that take 60 seconds.
Almost everything IPX does, takes 60 seconds...

Watch the wrap.

ipx update interval

Default

The default interval is 60 seconds for both IPX
routing updates and SAP updates.

Good luck.

Speaking of which, how many people have extended this time interval for
the sake of your wide-area links? We had decided to double the interval
to 120 sec (and double the flush-timer from 180 to 360 sec), for each IPX
RIPs and SAPs, and aren't any worse for it, from what I can tell.

Unless you configure ipx sap-after-rip (I think that's the right
command, I don't have IPX on my 804 here at home).
