Hi,

I wouldn't rate it good.
Probably you would want to use it to just to warm-up the topics
but not further. The book doesn't go into any details nor does it cover
the materials in the exam.
All the other books mentioned are far better than the Sybex, specially
Caslow's BRS for CCIE.

Good luck.

When I first read through the guide I thought it was not in-depth enough
but it seemed to cover most of the topics. After taking the exam, I
would judge the book a little better. You still need to read of *lot*
of other material, but this book would be a good supplement to your
studies.

I used the practice exams from CertificationZone, along with most of
their study guides, especially the Token Ring, Bridging, and routing
guides. I found that the questions on that site were far more difficult
than the actual exam, so if you find yourself consistently passing
those, you should do fine on the real thing.

Good luck!

I just finished the Caslow book and it was very good. I'm right in the
middle of Routing TCP/IP by Jeff Doyle and so far it is the best book I've
read. I have the Sybex book also and have put it down for the time being and
concentrating on the Doyle and Halabi books. Then I will go and read the
Sybex as more of a refresher.

I agree. You cannot go wrong with Halabi and DoyleCaslow is also very
good. The bottom line is that there is no one book that will do it all. You
will need to read a variety of books, each with it's own merits. I would
start with Doyle/Halabi first and then move on to books such as Caslows.

2001-07-27 Thread Wright, Jeremy

I have not yet completed my CCIE written so my advice may not be the best. I
can tell you what I have researched and found out though. Read all the books
you can. Do all of the questions, configuration exercises, troubleshooting,
etc.. in the books. Then I have been told (once again, I have not yet
experienced) the Boson tests are pretty good along with certification zones
test simulator. Also, find the Rossi paper on all the types of bridging.
This is all I have to offer at this point and I plan on doing more to
prepare for the written. Could someone else please add on to what I have
listed if willing? Thanks.

Boson #1, 2, 3 were really good.
Sometimes the questions are much harder than the real test.
Also make sure you study for the explanation part of the answer.
They cost like 29.99 each but they worth every penny.
