you can also use a roll over cable to connect 2 routers through the AUX ports.

Use a DB-60 to DB-60 crossover cable. You can find these all over the
Internet and are relatively inexpensive. Configure the clock rate on the
serial interface that the DCE side of the cable is connected to. Then, go to

Check anthonypanda dot com for the DTE/DCE back-to-back cables.
There are other sources such as ccbootcamp dot com, and kg2 dor com.

And, never forget to check ebay.  Just do a search on 'cisco back' and
you'll find a ton of them.
