The WS-C3550-24-EMI has a list price of $4990. The WS-C3550-24-SMI has a list price of $2995. The upgrade from SMI to EMI, PN:CD-3550-EMI=, costs $1995. As a reseller, my price on the WS-C3550-24-EMI is about $3325. Since I'm a small reseller, you may be able to purchase the WS-C3550-24-EMI from a larger reseller around my cost and they can still make a few points. check out the following to get an idea of the street price for the various flavors: http://www.nextag.com/ do a search on Cisco 3550 and then check the price ranges shown. street for the 3550-24-SMI runs 2000-2500, while street for the 3550-24-EMI runs 3350-4300 That Auction Site has had a rash of people selling SMI switches with EMI images. Al, I was in the CCIE Power session at Networkers on Friday and without a doubt you need the EMI version. To use their words "They will now have a 24 port router". The EMI version is the only version that does Layer 3 switching.
