Most likely they have the protocol ICMP echo being filtered.

I notice that on some of my routers i can ping
internet addresses like: ping www.yahoo.com

and get replies but on others i dont. Can someone tell

if you have the ability to look at the running configuration, look for the
command ip name-server [address]

chances are good there is a direct correlation between the presence of this
command and your ability to ping domain names.
