RE: flash copy failed checksum error [7:51834]
McHugh, Have you tried to redownload the IOS image and verify you have the correct checksum (MD5) ? It is possible the IOS you have is now does not have good integrity. I have tried it several times before with the same results. Anyone know a fix for that? I have 15.x file with 16mg flash and 16mg dram so that should be enough dram and flash to hold the image. thx Randy Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7&i=51840&t=51834 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I experienced that b4. It means your flash image got corrupted somehow, probably in the download process, if u used a download accelerator. Re: flash copy failed checksum error [7:51834]
It is also possible that your bootflash is faulty, as I have just had one go bad in a 6509. 1 out of 3 times it would actually verity the CatOS images OK, most times it would say bad CRC checksum and I tried different downloads and TFTP servers to make sure the images was fine. Cisco RMA'd a new flash and now it is as good as new Anthony - Original Message - From: To: Sent: Wednesday, August 21, 2002 10:38 AM Subject: RE: flash copy failed checksum error [7:51834] > McHugh, > > Have you tried to redownload the IOS image and verify you have the correct > checksum (MD5) ? > It is possible the IOS you have is now does not have good integrity. > > > Regards, > Leonard Ong, CISSP, CSS-1, CCSE, MCSE, > MCDBA, CCNP, CCDP, NSA, LCP > Network Security Specialist, APAC > NOKIA > > Email. What version of ROMs are you running (keep in mind that you must have the last revision of 11.0 ROM code) and have you tried other versions of 12.2 (could this version indeed be corrupted)? RE: flash copy failed checksum error [7:51834]
One other possibility (this happened to me recently as I'm buying equipment for my lab) is that it doesn't really have 16MB of flash. I had this happen (on a 2524 as a matter of fact!) when I received a router that was listed as having 16MB flash and indeed reported 16MB. The image on it when I received it was actually less than 8MB (which would then only be on the first Flash stick, CODE 0 SIMM socket). When I went to put a new image on it (14-15MB) it complained as yours is. It turns out that my second stick of flash was not 8MB, but instead 4MB (even though the system thought it had 16 total). I replaced that flash simm, and it's fine now. The simplest way to tell is to take the cover off of the router, and look at the 2 flash simms. Both of them should have a number similar to:28F016. If the second one (CODE 1 SIMM socket) has something like 28F008, then that is a 4MB flash simm, not an 8MB one. The simplest way I can remember what a flash SIMM size is is that you simply halve the number on any given chip, and that is the size of your flash simm. If your chips have the following number, the flash size is: 28F008 - 4MB 28F016 - 8MB It may NOT be your problem, but worth a try if the previous image was less than 8MB. Good Luck! fgm Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7&i=51866&t=51834 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
