Passed CIT today for my CCNP..I would like to thank everyone on this list that contributes helpful info.. and also including Prescilla for her wonderful flashcards. The CIT was very poorly written. The questions were vague and unclear with more than one correct answer many times... Had to sift through the garbage to find the right answer. I used the McGraw Hill CIT book and I don't think it covered all of the material very well. I had more than I expected on Appletalk and the questions were a little more in depth than I was expecting but I still passed with a 769... I'll say again though I think the test was written poorly... and not because I wasn't prepared. Thanks again to everyone on the list that contributes. Now on to CCDP... Any good book recommendations or tips or study guides please forward to me... Thanks Cory R. RE: yet another new CCNP..
Title: RE: yet another new CCNP.. Hi all, As Cory said in his email regarding the ambiguity of CIT, I couldn't agree more. While other Cisco exams (like BCMSN and BCRAN) pose fairly straight-forward technical questions, the questions in CIT can be very vague, and sometimes you'd swear that all answers are correct (or vice versa). Lack of quality study guides is also a concern. I've read both Cisco and McGraw-Hill publications, and I feel that the Cisco one covers more material (and slightly more relevant to the exam), but the editing (both grammatical and technical) is horrendous. Paragraphs appearing twice in succession, and conflicting information are just some of the drawbacks in this book. However, the Cisco CIT book does have good flow-charts for troubleshooting for different protocols and situations. McGraw-Hill, OTOH, makes an easier reading experience with many side stories to illustrate the concepts and theories being discussed. While not as complete as the Cisco book in terms of exam material, I believe both books will do the job of passing the Support 2.0 exam. After all, it really isn't hard to get better than 700/1000, especially when your score starts at 300 (0 question answered). Finally, a bit of hands on with ISDN would help quite a bit. Good luck to you all!
