Re: [what is 11.3(9) in sh ver?]

2001-02-22 Thread Sola Akinrelere

Hi Vikas,

Since you havent gotten a reply from anyone, let me help out here.

Cisco uses a numbering convention to designate different release of the IOS.
The number in parentheses (9 - in the case of your qs) is the maintenanace
level which represents periodic revisions to the major release(11.3 - in your
qs). If the number is followed by a letter in some cases, it represents an
early deployment or ED release... if no number follows the IOS version number,
the release is considered to be general deployment or GD release. I guess ED
is for select customers and in limited environments and if featured introduced
in an ED release proves stable, they may be incorporated into a GD. I have a
router with 11.3(7)T ED Release.

On pwd recovery, after doing all you did and enabling secret, u probably
restore the configuration register to boot from NVRAM using 0x2102 and
definitely save changes (write mem) to replect on reload, reload router and
you're good-to-go.

Hope my 2 cents helps.
