Re: Serial interface goes up and down
S., I've seen this situation. This could be the problem: The local end goes up & down. Distant end stays down. The problem is you're receiving keepalives and the distant end is not. These keepalives you receive have a sequence number on them that should increment ("your's seen"). Keepalives are sent every 10 seconds by default. Since the distant end isn't receiving your keepalives, your's seen doesn't increment. After missing seeing three keepalives that are not incrementing, IOS declares the interface down. As soon as the next keepalive is recieved, the interface is placed up. And so the cycle continues. Check the transmit pins/cable/to the distant end. Keep in mind it could be your local transmit or the distant end receive. Chris M. --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Hi all, > > I am facing a similar problem. The Serail link s0 > changes state. Re: Serial interface goes up and down
set noi keepalive and see what happens if no keepalive solves the problem. Most likely there is some problem with keepalive messages between your router and the next hop If you are running frame-relay most likely LMI is not functioning properly , check LMI type hope this helps regards, suaveguru --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Hi all, > > I am facing a similar problem. Serial interface goes up and down
Hi all, I am facing a similar problem. The Serail link s0 changes state. I noticed a pattern. The line protocol is up for 10 secs and down for next 20 secs and the loop contnues. Could anyone throw some light on what could be the possible reasons for this. All replies are thankfully acknowledged in advance. S.Kalidasan > Hi all, > > I'm trying to configure a 2501.
