Ok, this totally doesn't make sense. if you upgrade the os version on one
sup mod(obviously it would have to be the one in blade 1, then the one in
blade 2 is going to automatically upgrade as well. that's the whole point
in having redundent sup mods. Out of curiosity, what sup mod do you have?
is it the one with the pfc?, or do you have the msfc cards? have you
contacted Cisco about this one?

also, what the heck is tifpc?

I do know that, at one time at least, if you downgrade catOS you will
loose most of your config.

I think I discovered the problem on this one. A while back ( 6months to a
year ago) we upgraded the cat os version on one sup engine and not the other
so the high availability was not able to work properly due to the different
versions and configs on the 2 sup engines.

I've had it happen to a 4500 and a 2611 (routers). It seems to be
just one of those things that happens sometimes. In the case of the
4500, it really sucked, since all I had was a printout of the config
which had a whole pile of old stuff in it that wasn't needed but I
didn't know what I could remove at the time (I had taken over
administration from somebody else and was doing it as a service).

Strange 6509 problems [7:55871]

2002-10-18 Thread Price, Jeffery (TIFPC)
All,

I am hoping that you can help shed some light on a problem we had early this
morning. We lost power to our data center and when the power came back on
our 3 core 6509 switches came back up with out any configs on them. We
restored the configs from backups but the real puzzler is why they lost the
configs at all. Anyone out there ever run in to this kind of problem.

Thanks

Jeff
