The full and proper command is "traceroute"

This may be abbreviated to "trace"

What differences are you seeing?

Hi,

What is the difference between the commands tarce and traceroute on the
Cisco IOS. It seems that both gives you the same output, but the are not
typically the same.
When each one should be used.

Thanks

Hi

They are the same command, "trace" is just the short version of traceroute.
If you go to your favorite router and enter trace then press the tab key or
? key you will see what I mean.
