Re: using the upgrade command on a GSR [7:17767]

Nasty stuff. I had similar issues with GSR's recently. If you aren't
careful, you might end up with hardware that is not compatible with the IOS.
What I found was that some of the new versions of IOS (i am running
12.0.16S) are not compatible with some of the older versions of hardware. I
don't know if cisco is not doing regression testing on older hw before
releasing new IOS but I ended up replacing both GSP's. It was a very long
night..luckily the parts depot is less than an hour away and my four
hour contract usually gets parts in my hands in less than 2 hours. It took
two attempts to get the right combination.

Work with TAC and if these are critical have them raise the priority of the
case to 2 and stay on them. I was able to get the TAC engineers and DE's
working together to resolve my issue very quickly. When all is said and
done, the support from Cisco is absolutely tops.

using the upgrade command on a GSR [7:17767]

2001-08-29 Thread Shojayi Joe

I recently upgraded the software on one of our GSR's. All of my interfaces
are going nuts. I did a show version and noticed that it was saying "upgrade
rom-monitor" "upgrade switch fabric". I tried the upgrade rom-monitor
command and the router seems to be hosed. No resonse at the console. I
logged into the back up GSP card and it was in rom-mon mode. So I'm a little
confused as to what's going on. Anyone ever seen this before? Please let me
know if you have any suggestions. Thank you.
