This is not meant as a negative to the poster, but as food for thought.
Does any business really want to take something as important as their
telephone system and rip it out and put VoIP in? Without planning? Without
having a couple of vendors come in and offer proposals? Without at least
going to Cisco's web site and doing some serious reading?
Maybe VoIP is not the way to go for a lot of reasons - cost of the
supporting WAN infrastructure, cost of the supporting LAN infrastructure,
support issues, reliability issues.
Seriously, the business case has to come first. When you start adding up all
the costs, it may turn out that a Centrex or a PBX solution will serve you
better.
There are, in my mind, a couple of things you need to understand before
deciding to do VoIP. What is the cost of your present telephone service?
What is the cost of tolls, long distance that will be eliminated as a result
of VoIP? Keep in m that you will not be eliminating all such charges - just
those that the VoIP network carries. What is the cost of your PBX? The
monthly lease cost? The depreciation? How about the branch offices? What do
you pay for basic service there? What costs will be eliminated as a result
of VoIP?
What about features? Are there VoIP features that will enhance your
business? Things like integrated messaging? Are there features that your PBX
users have now that they will lose if you move to a VoIP setup? What
features do you want and need in your voice system?
In my admittedly limited experience talking to customers about VoIP. I find
that most of them have some very naove ideas about what VoIP will do for
them. Their eyes pop out of their heads when I show them costs of equipment,
let alone services. Not to mention the concerns if they have advanced PBX's
and they realize the features they will lose.
Just food for thought. Not a criticism.

Hello guys, I'm planning to setup VOIP facility within my company network
but my company only have PBX at H/O while there is no PBX available on
all 4 remote sites. So for VOIP setup can I use E&M interface at central
site and FXS port on all the remote sites?. Can I hv a sample config on
this scenario. Anxiously waiting for input. Thanks and warm regards. Tariq
