Re: [cisco-voip] JVDI + Wyse ThinOS + Horizon

2019-10-31 Thread Anthony Holloway
Not me, but this is a good opportunity for me to remind you fine people
that Cisco dropped support for using Jabber VDI as the video and your
deskphone as the audio. That's really unfortunate, considering it was
supported before the renaming to Jabber VDI (was called VMXE before), and
it remains supported in regular Jabber for Windows.

*Cisco Jabber Binary Floor Control Protocol (BFCP) desktop share, desk
phone video (display of video on the desktop when the thin client is
tethered to the user’s desk phone), Federal Information Processing
Standards/Information Assurance (FIPS/IA) compliance, collaboration edge,
Kerberos/Call Admission Control (CAC) support with Single Sign-On (SSO),
Far-End Camera Control (FECC), and Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site
Telephony (SRST) are not supported with Cisco JVDI.*

[cisco-voip] JVDI + Wyse ThinOS + Horizon

2019-10-31 Thread Mark H. Turpin
Greetings all,

Anyone tinkering with Jabber VDI + Dell Wyse ThinOS + Horizon?

It appears Dell has released in version 8.6 of ThinOS support for JVDI
w/Citrix, but I cannot find anything about support for VMware or Blast.

https://dell.to/336QAIg < JVDI on Citrix
https://dell.to/2oxk1UU < S4B on VMware but no mention of JVDI anywhere.

Sorry for the cross-post to JVDI Cisco communities for those that follow both.

[cisco-voip] Jabber and the Manager/Assistant Scenario

2019-10-31 Thread Pawlowski, Adam
Hello all,

I think I've asked this before but my memory gets worse by the minute nowadays.

Is there an answer to the manager/assistant scenario when using Jabber? I don't
mean IPMA, but, rather, that a VIP or similar has their directory information
updated to show their telephone number as a main departmental, or that of their
office/reception area. This works as they'd expect for the first person, but,
when multiple persons have the same telephone number listed, calls from that
person seem to show up in Jabber as a randomly selected contact, as Jabber does
contact resolution based on the number. I can come up with scenarios that work
for the IP Phones since they don't have this contact resolution concept, but,
it doesn't carry over to Jabber.

Long and short we don't control the directory and when people don't want to be
called or a department wants all calls to funnel through an attendant, the
results are not great.

I suppose this would also apply if someone shares an extension, since again
display names would be ignored by Jabber you'd never know for sure who you were
talking with until you answered the call.

Is there some way around this?

Adam
