Job Description: Role:Oracle DBA Houston, TX 6 Month Contract (Probable Extension) The ideal candidate: ? Has a minimum 3 years of work experience in a multi disciplined IT environment with experience as a DBA in a first/second line support role. Strong background in service delivery, operational support, and proactive management. ? DBA Specialists are typically very experienced Database Administrators, some of which are recognised in the Group as subject matter experts. The technologies supported include the Linux, UNIX and Windows platforms and the Oracle & SQL Server RDBMS ? The breadth of knowledge demanded from the team includes specialist areas like client/server operation, networking, data replication, high-availability, etc. ? Excellent technical knowledge of Oracle and/or SQL Server, Windows OS and/or UNIX/Linux ? Accreditations like e.g. Oracle Certified Professional or MCSDBA are a clear plus ? Very good awareness of other technologies, including the Microsoft office suite of applications (MCSE certification desirable) and data communication (CCNA certification preferred) ? Understanding of data management tools and techniques, e.g. normalization, relational database design ? Understanding of server and storage technology, e.g. RAID, NAS, SAN, snapshot, especially in the area of High Availability ? Good knowledge and experience in the use of the Problem / Change and remote management tools, processes and applications ? Deep knowledge of principles, practices and theories in Database legacy and new technology ? Good command of English language (spoken and written) EDUCATION: ?
