[clamav-users] Question about clamav and amavisd-new
Hello everyone. I had a couple of questions regarding clamav and amavisd-new. I am currently setting up our mail server with postfix + amavisd-new + clamav + spamassassin. So far, i've been able to successfully configure postfix and spamassassin and I am currently working on amavisd-new and clamav. I've followed the directions for amavisd-new and i've been able to get amavisd-new working correctly. Now what I need to do is incorporate clamav with amavisd-new. Which brings me to a couple of questions that I have. I've been reading through the User Manual for clamav and I just have a few questions about incorporating into my mail server with amavisd-new. I have yet to install clamav, but that is partially because I wanted to ask questions first. I am running Red Hat 9.0. I noticed that I can install either from source or use RPMs. One thing I am confused about is clamscan. In the user manual it has the option to disable it. I am a little unclear here as to what my needs would be. (Probably because i've been up for almost 28 hours now. :) ) Moving on: I guess my main question is to make sure that amavisd-new knows about clamav and will call it when it needs to. How can I make sure that amavisd-new and clamav work together correctly? I want to make sure I have everthing correct and understand everything before I mess something up. Thanks everyone. RE: [clamav-users] OpenBSD Port
How well does freshclam work in this release, if clamd is run with amavisd-new in chroot and the following clamav.conf settings - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - # Path to the local socket. The daemon doesn't change the mode of the # created file (portability reasons). You may want to create it in a directory # which is only accessible for a user running daemon. # LocalSocket /var/run/clamd/clamd.sock LocalSocket /var/amavisd/clamd.sock # Run as selected user (clamd must be started by root). # By default it doesn't drop privileges. User amavisd - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - By default it looks like feshclam runs as _clamd. [clamav-users] Still can't compile cvs snapshot on RH9
Title: Message Thought I'd give it a try with the latest snapshot again, but I still can't seem to compile a cvs snapshot on RH9. I've never had any problems compiling any of the releases I don't get why I can't get the snapshots to compile. I'm sure there's something simple like I don't have a specific library installed or something, but I really don't know how to make much of compiler errors. This is the error I'm seeing: /bin/sh ../libtool --mode=link gcc -g -O2 -o clamscan clamscan.o options.o getopt.o others.o manager.o treewalk.o -L../libclamav -lclamavmkdir .libslibtool: link: cannot find the library `'make[1]: *** [clamscan] Error 1make[1]: Leaving directory `/download/clamav/cvs snapshots/clamav-20030720/clamscan'make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 If this is a simple problem, can someone please smack me around a little bit and point me in the right direction? Is anybody else seeing this error w/cvs snapshots compiling? What can I do to try to fix this? If you need more of the error message, let me know, I just didn't want to clog up the email unneccessarily, and I think that I got the command that was failing. thx k
