sounds like whatever you're using to call clamav on this email is broken.
Please ask the mailing list of whatever you are using to call clamav.

Ah...That's what I missed. I didn't realize the two were connected. Once I
put the path in /etc/ld.so.conf and ran ldconfig, everything started working
properly.

Thanks!

[Clamav-users] Query on qmail and return-path

2004-07-21 Thread Tony Howden
Hi All
I have a linux server config using the sme server distro (redhat based)
with qmail as the MTA.

I've installed clamav on it and have a problem with the null return-path
being modified. Not sure if this is directly clam config or qmail
related or perhaps scripting elsewhere, but I am getting nowhere fast
trying to resolve this.

What happens is that without clamav installed a message with a return
path of <> is processed normally and arrives with <> in the header
correctly.

If clam is activated then the return-path is mangled to <"<>"> which
triggers bounces for a malformed address which is the correct response
from the MTA but a pain as these can be legit email that are being
basically bounced within our own server.

Any ideas on fixing this would be appreciated.
cheers
Tony

i have that statement in my clamav.conf and i start clamd from init which i
think means that it is started by root (is it?)

You have to run this command : ranlib /usr/lib/libbz2.a
before compiling clamav.

Note that clamav should work except that it will not be able to unzip
files...

[Clamav-users] trouble installing on OS X 10.2.6

2004-07-21 Thread Emrys Hughes
Hi

I'm having trouble installing clamav-0.74 on Darwin.

I have tried with earlier versions of clamav also, same problem.

When I run 'make' I get these errors at the end:

creating sigtool
Making all in database
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `all'.
Making all in docs
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `all'.
Making all in etc
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `all'.
Making all in clamav-milter
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `all'.
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `all-am'.

There is also a warning earlier in the 'make', I don't know if this is
related:

*** Warning: linker path does not have real file for library -lbz2.
*** I have the capability to make that library automatically link in
when
*** you link to this library. But I can only do this if you have a
*** shared version of the library, which you do not appear to have
*** because I did check the linker path looking for a file starting
*** with libbz2 and none of the candidates passed a file format test
*** using a file magic. Last file checked: /usr/lib/libbz2.a
*** The inter-library dependencies that have been dropped here will be
*** automatically added whenever a program is linked with this library
*** or is declared to -dlopen it.

If anyone has anyone run into this problem or can offer advise, I would
be very grateful.

Regards

Emrys Hughes
