[Clamav-users] Unknown type flag L error with tar.gz file

2005-01-19 Thread Holger Mauermann
Hi,

I get an error message when scanning a tar.gz archive:

$ clamscan archive.tar.gz
LibClamAV Error: cli_untar: unknown type flag L
archive.tar.gz: Input/Output error

ClamAV version is 0.80. Unpacking the archive with tar xzf works fine.
Any ideas?

Thanks, Holger

Does the error occur also with the CVS version?

[Clamav-users] clamscan returns error code 124

2005-01-19 Thread Carsten Borchardt
Hi,
running clamscan returns error code '124' sometimes. I can not find this
error code in the documentation.

What does it mean?

[Clamav-users]

2005-01-19 Thread Shaun Bugler
We had a problem a while back of certain zip files failing to be scanned by
clam. This was apparently fixed (zzip-file.c) but now we want to test this
on our machines.

We unfortunately don't have a zip file that caused the problems anymore. I
am unable to generate such a file with winrar, winzip, pkzip etc so I was
wondering if anyone could point me to an application that can make these zip
files or how to create one with the zip program above.

Thanks,
Shaun Bugler

just tried ClamAV devel-20050119. It now shows the message only
standard TAR files are currently supported and exits with
archive.tar.gz: OK. The file is ignored/not scanned, but I think at
the moment I can live with this behavior ;-)

This is a script used to set up autostart. How it is implemented depends on
which distro, any good book on linux will tell you how to do that, but to get
you started try putting it in /etc/init.d or /etc/rc.d/init.d and make it
executable and run it. if you are on redhat,

man chkconfig

Is this something that needs to be run?

I'm running qmail-ldap and expected simscan to call
clamd for each email msg received..

Nothing is happening as far as I can see in the log files
 and email headers.

Thought I'd seen all of the doc's but maybe I'm missing
 something..

 wouldn't be the first time.

 Any help is greatly appreciated.

[Clamav-users] clamAV 0.80 clamd issue...

2005-01-19 Thread Daniel Suen
Dear All,
I have downloaded the 0.80 version yesterday and compiled and run it on
both a Linux machine and a Solaris 9 machine. The following problem is
found on both platforms:-

I have a virus file and I tried scanning it with clamscan, and it did not
report that it is a virus/worm. So, I tried adding a --database tag, and
this time, clamscan correctly identifies the virus. Then, I think the
DatabaseDirectory tag might not have been picked up correctly. So, I edit
/usr/local/etc/clamd.conf. There, when I uncomment that line which points
to /var/lib/clamav and do a clamscan again, it gives an error. On
Solaris 9:

LibClamAV Error: cl_loaddbdir(): Can't open directory
ERROR: Unable to open file or directory
--- SCAN SUMMARY ---
Known viruses: 0
Scanned directories: 0
Scanned files: 0
Infected files: 0
Data scanned: 0.00 MB
I/O buffer size: 131072 bytes
Time: 0.004 sec (0 m 0 s)
On Linux:
LibClamAV Error: cl_loaddbdir(): Can't open directory ยจ/lib/clamav
ERROR: Unable to open file or directory
--- SCAN SUMMARY ---
Known viruses: 0
Scanned directories: 0
Scanned files: 0
Infected files: 0
Data scanned: 0.00 MB
I/O buffer size: 131072 bytes
Time: 0.017 sec (0 m 0 s)
Anyone knows how to fix it? Also, clamscan -V gives something like the
following:

ClamAV 0.80/375/Thu Jan 1 08:00:00 1970
If that gives the time when the software was built, that is wrong. The
symptom occurs on both Solaris 9 and Linux.

Best,
Daniel.

[Clamav-users] problems compiling

2005-01-19 Thread John Alexander
Hi,

This evidently has been covered before, but I couldn't find a resolution.

I'm running OpenBSD 3.1 and have ClamAV 0.60 - should have upgraded long ago...

I can't get ClamAV 0.80 to compile with the following error:

gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I.. -I./zziplib -I./mspack -g -O2 -c mbox.c
-Wp,-MD,.deps/mbox.TPlo -o mbox.o
mbox.c:568: curl/curl.h: No such file or directory
*** Error code 1

Stop in /var/downloads/clamav-0.80/libclamav.
*** Error code 1

Stop in /var/downloads/clamav-0.80 (line 351 of Makefile).
*** Error code 1

Stop in /var/downloads/clamav-0.80 (line 216 of Makefile).

Curl is installed in /usr/local/include/curl

Any thoughts or resolutions?

Yes. Both ClamAV _and_ the OS. They're working on 3.7 now. ;)

I can't get ClamAV 0.80 to compile with the following error:

Install curl? It's in the ports tree. :)

[Clamav-users] Problem with clamd - clues welcome

2005-01-19 Thread Odhiambo Washington

I am having a strange problem with clamd. It has become the biggest
bottleneck on my SMTP service but I just can't figure out why.
Perhaps this is not a clamd problem but a hardware problem!
I have tested both clamav-0.80 and clamav-devel-20050120 today.

On my diagnostics, the mail processing seems to delay forever
when the mail is being scanned. I use Exim+exiscan+clamd. So
an SMTP connection from a client machine (read Outlook) ends
up timing out! This has put me on the spot, but I have no
alternative to clamd as we speak, and neither do I intend to.

For the last 4 or so days, this problem as persisted. And
clamd leaves so many files in the TempDir - running to hundreds of
Megabytes. In clamd.conf, I have never enabled that option of
leaving tempfiles. In clamd.conf, I am using the default scan options.

`top` reveals that clamd is hogging resources:

PID USERNAME PRI NICE SIZERES STATE C TIME WCPUCPU COMMAND
12203 exim -6 0 22308K 15944K biord 2 16:35 45.41% 45.41% clamd

This is a busy server, but are these figures 'near' normal for anyone
running either 0.80 or CVS out there?
