Yes, I installed ISC's bind as a DNS (cache) server, that way I don't depend on
the very slow/unreliable DNS server of my ISP.

There is a binary install package for Windows at http://www.isc.org/index.pl you
just have to configure it. The source, IIRC, compiles out of the box under a
Cygwin environment (I did some small changes but that was more than a year ago,
Cygwin changes have added the missing functions); so you can choose either
option.

[Clamav-users] ERROR: Can't query current.cvd.clamav.net

2005-10-06 Thread vanbregt . 482243
I've read the FAQ and now know that the Speedtouch modem DNS probably is causing
the problem. But I have not found any information to resolve this. I use Clamwin
and WinXP SP2.

Does anyone have a resolution?

Normally you would write to its own log file. Make it log to
/var/log/clamav/clamav-milter.log and your permission problem should go
away.

[Clamav-users] New Bagle / Mytob variant

2005-10-06 Thread Randal, Phil
We've received over two dozen copies of a new Bagle / Mytob variant in
the last few hours.

Various subjects, attached files

Re: DocumentDetails.exe
Re: Hello Information.exe
Re: Details.exe
Encrypted document MoreInfo.exe
Protected message Updates.exe

etc etc...

Submitted to virusscan.jotti.org, www.virustotal.com, clamav.net, and
webimmune.net.

Detected as W32/[EMAIL PROTECTED] by F-Prot, Webimmune claims it is a Bagle
variant.

Cheers,

Phil

I have 2 questions left, after all. :)

1): Is OnOutdatedExecute a one-time event? Or will it execute every hour?
(when I have freshclamd update, that is). I wouldn't want to go on
vacation, for a week, and see hundreds of mail in my mailbox.

2): Would something like, say, this be the right syntax, to be included in
freshclam.conf? (since I have no way of testing it, I am asking).

OnOutdatedExecute /usr/local/bin/mpack -m 0 -s "Clamav OUTDATED; new
version: %v" /var/log/clamav/freshclam.log [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks,
