   Hello all,

I am curious as to whether there has been any recent comparison of
ClamAV's virus detection against the wildlist (www.wildlist.org).
Granted, the latest wildlist is from October 2007, but it would be
interesting to see the results as several vendors use their wildlist
detection as a marketing tool (or at least used to). Also, I was wondering
if there was any solid method of actually doing a comparison on my own, as
the wildlist provides only virus names, which do not match the naming
convention used by ClamAV. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly
  appreciated. Thanks!

Lack of startup time overhead (as clamd is already running), though
I'd expect that to be fairly static and probably largely irrelevant
for large (multi GB) scans.

Yeah, generally speaking, I can up to 300-400 GB a day.

It's OK to be a normal user when doing configure and make but for make
install you need to be root (or use sudo).

How remote is remote ?

Mount the remote Windows box to a directory on the Linux box, use the
options to not scan the swap(page) file(s). Use the delete option with
caution. Use the Windows file system scandisk to make sure the Windows
file system is correct and use defrag (turn off rearrange to make
applications start faster option) to make the scanning faster.
Periodically pull the drive out of the Windows machine, delete the
swap(page) file(s), the temporary internet files and all the .tmp files
in the Windows/temp directory, the history files. Watch for multiple swap
files. Used to have 30 Windows boxes on the network, now just six, all
CAD/CAM boxes. You should scan the Windows boxes over night, every night.

Hello Joey,
Try to make sure the clamd daemon is not running. Also if your are
running sockets that any clamd file in tmp are removed.
