I'm good with finding a new time, though typically all times wind up
being bad because we're all very busy humans.

But if we'd like to find a new time maybe send out a whenisgood or
similar to let people choose?

2015-06-16 Thread David Gay
Hi all!

We've received[1] only +1's (and plenty of them!) to move the weekly Cloud SIG
meeting 2 hours earlier. Until further notice, the meeting will be held at 1700
UTC on Wednesdays[2].

Congratulations to Kushal and the everyone else on that side of the rock. You
can turn off your coffee pots a bit earlier. ;)

Looks like we'll pretty much be at release or tantalizingly close by the

then? It looks like we're getting images produced now?

We *should* have a post-mortem meeting, I think - but what do we yet

No worries - wasn't really looking to assign blame or anything.

Just wanted to point it out, because it's important that meetings are
just part of our communication. Some folks have a hard time making
meetings due to time zones or insane travel schedules (yo), so we need
to work with that when info comes in via trac, mailing list, etc.

New Meeting Time

2014-10-22 Thread Dusty Mabe
Hey All,

Sorry this took so long. I was trying to get Dennis to vote so that we could
accommodate his schedule if we ever needed him in any meetings. I never heard
back
from him so I'm moving forward.

The results are here: http://whenisgood.net/recw7mb/results/wx5ep2c

It looks like the best times are one of the following:

Tuesday/Thursday at 16:00 UTC (12:00 EDT): See [1]
Wednesday at 18:00 UTC (14:00 EDT): See [2]
Wednesday at 19:00 UTC (15:00 EDT): See [3]

What does everyone think about Thursday at 16:00 UTC? scollier, you are the
only one that
is listed as not available during that time. Can you somehow make it?

Thanks,
Dusty

The Thursday time works great for me. However, for Wednesdays I have the Blocker
Review meetings every Wednesday at 1600 until 1900. Not saying we can't have the
meeting during that time, but you probably won't be seeing much of me in them :)
So if it ends up being better for everyone to have it on Wednesday, I'd vote for
the 1900 UTC slot.

Thanks for taking care of all this Dusty!

 Let's add Replace cloud-init with min-metadata-service as the default;
 provide separate cloud-init enabled image.

Since Matt just brought that up in another thread and I think it might
be my new favorite option (only just had a very quick look at the
github page), let's add CoreOS's cloud-init [1] to this discussion.
It's written in Go and supports a subset of what cloud-init does plus
additions to control etcd [2] and fleet [3] which are tools that I
think we want to have at least on the Docker Host image, anyway.

This would be contingent on min-metadata-service implementing a bit more
basic functionality (execute userdata scripts, option to create and use
fedora user, and GCE support). Additionally, it would be nice to start
building up a very simple library of #! user-data scripts that do the basic

Or you can try my pet project: https://github.com/juergh/dwarf/ which adds
the OpenStack API (a subset of it, that is) ontop of your your locally
running libvirt daemon. It'll allow you to use the standard OpenStack
python clients to manage VMs and cloud images on your local machine. I use
it to test images before uploading them to the (HP) cloud, so it's slightly
biased towards our OpenStack implementation. It also provides an EC2
metadata service to the instance to please cloud-init (but no OpenStack
config drive). Feedback, bug reports and patches are more than welcome.

Sorry, no RPMs yet.

Well, that's 11 PM for me, with school the next morning - so I will

We'll try to make good minutes with liberal #infos, and also to make sure
we have list-based discussion like this too too.

 - Do we want to (try and) kick out Python on the Docker Host image?
This would *require* both replacing cloud-init by min-metadata-service
 and yum by ostree.

I'd love to try.

 - How can we get the community more involved in our efforts? Changes
 need owners.

New Meeting Time?

2014-03-05 Thread Joe Brockmeier

Hey all,

We have not had a quorum at the last few meetings, so perhaps we need to
change the meeting time?

Please pick a time here that works well for you:

(Note, we'll reset the time for weekly meetings for this.)

Thanks,

Re: New Meeting time proposal

I can do that too - I highlighted 2 and 3, but noon is fine. For the
record, I was out sick from work yesterday, it wasn't just the meeting
I missed ;) Thursday afternoon isn't horrible. Monday afternoon
would be the only *bad* afternoon for me.

This was about as good as I could do - harish and sgordon were the only

Haven't seen a response from brianlamere, yet, though :)

Thoughts, questions, flames? If I don't hear anything over the rest of
the day, I'll picardmake it so./picard
