An oft-mentioned remedy is to drink tonic or take quinine tablets. If it is going to work, it will work very fast. Acetomeniphen (Tylenol) can help, but takes a 1/2 hour or so to kick in. Tylenol can adversely affect liver function, so don't take it too often. If you are going to take Tylenol a lot, have your liver function tested every few weeks. Some people like Ibuprofen. Some swear by Aleve. If you go to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society web site, you will find a lot of information about treating Gleevec side effects. Dr. Druker's nurse gave a pretty good talk on the subject some time ago, and a transcription of her speech is on the web site. I have foot pain and neck/shoulder pain. I find that walking around relieves the foot pain instantly, and doing a few exercizes to loosen up the neck deals with the neck pain. Keep reading CMLHope and other forums. You never know when someone will discover a new way to deal with a side effect. Yeah I still have both and have been on Gleevec since April of 04, I am prescribed loritab for that and it manages it great. Hi Steve, I have muscle aches occassionaly. I feel like the day after a heavy game of rugby. I find that if I force myself to get moving, just a mild walk will ease things considerably. Steve, The only thing that has helped me was ibuprofen. But my onc. told me not to take that but since it is the only thing that works I didnt listen...lol...Hope you find something that helps.
