Re: Stus-List Unclogged cockpit drains
I have a section of tygon hose which I can attach to the inside side of the through hull. Since the hose is clear I can see where the water line is (about a foot above the floor boards) I have a ram rod dowel which is just big enough to fit through the valve and long enough to reach from the inside to the outside. I can ram out anything through the tygon and through hull without getting any flooding in the boat. Right.. any A4 with the Paragon transmission ( so with a reverse band like a motorcycle wet clutch ) should use a "SG" classification , which means it does not have the anti-friction additives. Straight 30 oil is also good. On modern oils the motorcycle JASO MA label has same standard .Moyer also recommends motorcycle oil like Castrol. You may find that the engine is moving independent of the shift cable. With older/softer engine mounts the thrust may be moving the engine closer/further from the cable. Most cables are attached to the engine so this doesn't happen but if the cable of mount is broken or failing it may be causing the problem.
