Re: Stus-List C 30 MKI Prop Strut
Gordon, Anchovy’s strut broke in half a few years back. First I looked for a direct replacement to the bolted on strut. When that failed, I had the old strut braised back together. It was beautiful…and broke the first time I left the dock. Finally, I purchased a strut with a straight shank. I cut a hole through the bottom of the boat and glassed it in at the proper angle. Worked great. Rick Bushie Anchovy, 1971 30-1, Hull 1 Tolchester, MD ___ The bills have started coming in for the year 2018 and have gone up again. October will be our fund raising month. Re: Stus-List Glow plug replacement
Before you go do all that work and expense test the glow plugs. Use a digital laser thermometer and with a cold engine activate the glow plugs. Maybe even do it twice. Aim the laser thermometer at each glow plug. If you see any temp rise that glow plug is working. Glow plugs are 100% or 0% working. there is no inbetween. For $20. at Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Lasergrip-Non-contact-Thermometer-Temperature-58%E2%84%89-716%E2%84%89/dp/B071NM73DX/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8=1509314848=8-8=Digital+Laser+Thermometer On Sunday, October 29, 2017, 2:54:58 PM EDT, David Knecht via CnC-Listwrote: I was talking to a friend today who had been working on our club launch and had replaced the glow plugs to fix a problem with poor starting. I haven’t looked yet, but from the manual they appear to be on the starboard side and the engine is only accessible from the front and port side. Has anyone done this job? I am guessing it is pretty trivial if you have top access and pretty challenging if you don’t. Is this something that one can expect should need replacing on a 27 year old engine? Re: Stus-List Stove
Most people don’t know that what’s known as “Natural Gas” is actually composed of multiple gases: Propane, butane, ethane, and methane. Propane, a part of “raw” natural gas, is separated from the other gas components during processing at most gas facilities. Since propane contains more than twice the energy of natural gas (one cubic foot of propane = 2,516 BTUs, while one cubic foot of natural gas = 1,030 BTUs), it’s much more efficient than natural gas. It's mildly lighter than propane alone, but does dissipate faster in air. On Oct 28, 2017 7:02 PM, "John Pennie via CnC-List"wrote: That is a good point Jack and thanks for reminding everyone.
