No idea about this other than the ad.

I have to say it is a bit depressing. My mast was out for a few months
and while I like the boat better with sails, the boat was certainly usable
as a 6 knot power boat and you would think worth more than nothing ☹
More than a few de-rigged sailboats are on the great loop right now.

If this boat was close by I would probably snag her.

Stus-List Re: Balance/header tank for hydronic heater

2021-03-07 Thread Graham Collins via CnC-List
In my install the heater is tucked under the aft end of the shelf in the
cockpit locker.  It doesn't get in the way and is reasonably protected.
The exhaust runs aft, goes up at the transom to form a hump and then
down and out through the transom, off the top of my head maybe 20" from
the top but I wouldn't swear to it, possibly higher.

Last October I did a weekend overnight, it went down to 3C and I was so
happy I'd installed a heater...

2021-03-07 Thread Graham Collins via CnC-List

Hi Blair

That is about the size mine is, I might have closer to 50ft of 3/4" hose
and I'm running an Espar D5 to two radiators and also through the hot
water tank coils.  Works great, 9 years in.

Actually, looking back at the article I see I claimed 50 ft hose, and
the expansion tank is visible in the pictures.
https://www.goodoldboat.com/pdfs/GOB86HotWater.pdf

Two things would concern me about your expansion tank pick, it is
untreated aluminum and even though it won't be exposed it will of course
still get water on it.  If you are on a lake, no biggie, but otherwise
corrosion would be a concern.  Secondly, in the description the cap is
described as non breather type - you need air to be able to get in/out.
