Re: Stus-List 34/36 bowsprit retrofit
I have both (Tacker and the Sleeve). They work. The Sleeve is essential if you are shorthanded (do I quote Wally word by word?). When shorthanded, setting up a spinnaker is a pain, anyway. With or without the Tacker. The only benefit is that you can fly any spinnaker like an asym and it works. I stopped using tacker as well a now use bow anchor roller. Gets sail out further and makes it easier. Jerry. C &C 27V J&J. Re: Stus-List 34/36 bowsprit retrofit
Francois For cruising purposes you may want to take a look at Doyle's UPS or similar product. It's essentially a smaller chute on a simple continuous line furling drum. The drum attaches to any convenient fitting with a snap shackle. By far it is the easiest system for a 2 person crew to manage. I've used both the tacker and various socks over the years. While they work reasonably well the furling system is just in another league in terms of convenience. Just another option. That is a cool upgrade and a super nice install.. As an alternative has anyone experimented with an ATN Tacker and Spinnaker Sleave? I understand that you'd loose some performance with the Tacker but it seems like it would be worth a try, it's pretty cheap and easy. I'm definitely getting both as I want to fly the spin with my wife and kids. The Tacker eliminates the big / heavy pole, the sock takes the drama out of deploying / retrieving.-Francois Rivard1990 34+ "Take Five"Lake Lanier, GaSent from IBM Notes Traveler ___ This List is provided by the C&C Photo Album Email address: CnC-List@cnc-list.com To change your list preferences, including unsubscribing -- go bottom of page at: http://cnc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/cnc-list_cnc-list.com
Re: Stus-List 34/36 bowsprit retrofit
I have played with doing something to my 36XL to reduce crew requirements plus to make it easier to cruise shorthanded. My question is how many crew do you need to fly it when racing (vs the symmetrical chute)? Also, do you think the PHRF change was fair and what did it cost in parts?
