Stus-List C 37r coming to market soon

2021-07-07 Thread Danny via CnC-List
Hello all, A friend of mine, who is not on the list,  is about to list his beautiful C 37r for sale. I don't know all the details yet but, i do know it's been very well cared for, is in great condition, and is really fast! I've been on this boat a number of times.  It's in really great shape! Let me know if there are any questions I can get answers to. I'll get year and price and such soon.  I just thought i would throw this out there in case anyone was looking or knew someone that might be interested. Thanks, DannyThanks to all of the subscribers that contributed to the list to help with the
costs involved. If you want to show your support to the list - use PayPal to
send contribution -- https://www.paypal.me/stumurray Thanks - Stu

Hi Rob,
Plenty of room. I have successfully installed a below deck
autopilot on a 37+. Does that count? See pictures here

I am working with a guy who is trying to install an autopilot in his 37R.
It seems he thinks there isn't enough available space (Who designed such a boat
anyway) . . . .
Any experience here from you guys . . . . ?

As far a I'm concerned, our 37/40+ with stack pack and autopilot is eminently
capable to be single handed as long as I am coming into a protected slip where
wind and current are not an issue.  My only heartburn would be not having a
second pair of hands for dock lines.

Hi Josh,
Truth be told, I fell in love with the 37/40+ 16 years ago when I was boatless
and saw them on Yachtworld.   I later found the 34/36 model and Stu's brochures
which led me to checkout a boat that  I couldn't afford one lunchtime.  The
following year, several things changed and I bought that boat.   I've owned her
now for 15 years and looking back I learned a hell of a lot, mostly through
this list or the hard way.
I wouldn't mind owning a 37/40, more room, easier motion in a seaway perhaps,
that centerline queensized bed.  No offense, I just prefer what I have, what I
know.

Thanks Chuck.

I feel really honored to have one of the “R’s”. It’s taken me a year to learn
how to sail it and I am still noticing it but what absolute fun it h as been.

Do you know if there is any similar graphic resource as you found for the 37-40
for the 34-36?

Hey Dave,

Found this list of 37/40 boats. Great resource, but I prefer the smaller
sister, Rob Ball's last and most advanced design; the 34/36 model. He did the
37/40 in '88 and the 51' and 34/36 in '89.

http://c-c-37-40.blogspot.com/p/a-list-of-known-c-3740-boat-name.html

FYI, there were only 94 hulls made of the 34/36 model, 9 R's and the rest
cruising plus and XL models with at least three different rig options. There
are many boats ready for sale that aren't listed, boats waiting for a new
owner. The key questions are "Where are you located, where will you sail, how
many people can you get to crew. A 37/40 needs a large crew, while I can
singlehand my 34/36. Just sayin.

It could be this one in Toronto.

Funny how they removed the picture of the smashed up toerail and deck when
they re-listed it this weekend.

It looked like it had been T-boned.

David

The R does not have an aft stateroom. Just a big
open bunk to store your sails and the nav
station. I suspect the fuel is under it as it is
a good location. Water is probably under one of
the settees or possibly in the bow under the
forward end of the v berth if Ball thought it
would be better balance to keep it there.

Also, according to sailboatdata, instead of the
75g water and 40G fuel, it carries only 30g of water and 20 of fuel.

David,

I think, but not sure, because the 37R is somewhat different than the + pr XL
models, the fuel tank is smaller and under the floor in the after cabin aft of
the stuffing box access. I also think you have two water tanks under the side
berths, where we have three (one more under the V-berth).

All the best,

Edd

Fuel tank is normally under the aft berth Water tank should be under one
of the settees I'd think. The fuel and water fills in the deck will be
close to the tank locations so should give a clue.

Drawing are here but they don't show tankage locations: https://c-c-37-40.

Hello

Looking at a boat, (partially dismantle) but I can not figure where the
fuel tank & fresh water tank are located.
Some of the interior is missing. Any help is appreciated ( if you have an
interior drawing/kink) would be great
