Stus-List Nicro Vents
John: My Nicro 4 Vent is mounted on the forward hatch window in the V berth..never, not once has a jib sheet ever got caught on it.I have used a 150%, 135% and a 110% jib. I would be more concerned with someone stepping on it. Not sure how it would hold up if a 200 lb. deck ape stood on it but given the plus side of it drawing fresh air through the boat, it is worth the risk. As I said in an earlier post, my vent has been spinning continuously since we got the boat in March 2006. Having had this experience with one, I wouldn't be without one. Unlike the newer ones, this one doesn't run when the sun goes down. Is that because it does not have a rechargeable battery or is the battery to far along in its life to hold a charge? Any idea what kind of a battery this model would take and where you you obtain it? Bob, Nicro vents use a C size rechargeable, either NiCad or NiMH. Get at least 2250 mah. Dennis C. Bob, I have the identical boat same year etc. and have been reluctant to mount my Nicro Vent in the window of the forward hatch in the V berth as I have been told by some that the jib sheets get caught on it during a tack. Hi John, One of my new solar fans caught sheets. I fashioned small blocks that I epoxied in front of the fan and sheets now ride up and over the fan, no problem. The blocks are about 45 degrees off either side of center line of the fan, and about 1 1/2 high and 2 wide and work great. Thanks Chuck, Are the blocks angled or wedged in cross section so the lines ride up over the blocks?
