By now you know that it was very intense at the point of landfall, but
I'm about 100 miles north and protected by the Sierra Madres. Everyone
did get into a tizzy of preparation, in case it turned north, but it was
just rain for us. We were on the high pressure side, with the wind
coming from the east over land, and the mountains just blocked
everything except rain from the outer bands.
I needed to take the awnings down anyway, as sailing season is
starting. I'll head down to Santiago/Manzanillo in a while to visit a
friend or two, as they were on the south side and much closer, so
probably got slammed by surge.
