I bought this part (see link below) last spring as mine was worn. It
fitted perfectly (as you would expect).

Ryan,
Offshore Spars made our rigs.
Not sure what broke on your gooseneck? There is a fiber reinforced plastic part
that seems designed to break before the metal parts. You could easily make one
of those from aluminum billet? I expect Offshore will have the part you need.

In 2003 I emailed Mike Feldman and he answered many of questions regarding
prebend and rake.

As your boat is an R version your mast and boom may have been built by
Offshore Spars. The 37R were.

Give them a call or check the website.

Ryan,

Is your boom a Kenyon E section?  See:
http://www.rigrite.com/Spars/Kenyon_Spars/KENYON.html#Boom%20Sections

If so, I have a couple spare goosenecks.

Re: Stus-List boom goose neck

2013-10-31 Thread Bill Bina
Broke the gooseneck fitting on the boom of my 1986 C&C 27-5 a few years
ago. The tab for the swivel broke off at it's base. South Shore had one!
It was a left-over that had not had final finishing or holes drilled.
Just as it came out of the mold. It took them a couple of days to locate
it in their warehouse, but it was on their inventory list. $100 plus
shipping. I bought that one, and at the same time I had dropped off the
broken one at a local machine shop. The machinist at first didn't seem
too hopeful. I suggested that he just use the broken off piece as a
dimensional guide, and fix the part by building up a blob of fresh
aluminum and then machining it down to the proper shape. That approach
worked like a charm. He charged me $50 and got me back sailing 3 days
after the thing had broken. I still have the fresh one from South Shore
in my "parts collection" should I ever need it. The repaired original
has been fine for the past 3 or 4 years.

sheared off on the part of the gooseneck attached to the mast; so he only
had to make that portion, not the portion on the end of the boom.
