Stus-List changing paint
Fred: You are correct.soda blasting is messy because of the white baking soda used. Dry ice blasting is like going through a car wash.only the residue from the bottom paint falls to the ground.dry ice blasting uses frozen carbon dioxide..the pelts turn to a 'gas' when it hits a substrate surface. Had my boat dry ice blasted in 2006.took 20 years of the paint off in less than 5 hours.what fell on the ground looked like 'ground pepper'.used a shop vacuum and had the mess cleaned up in 20 minutes. Don't know why this process isn't used more. Rob Abbott AZURA CC 32 - 84 Halifax, N.S. Re: Stus-List changing paint
The paint that is removed is still a big waste product. I recently had my bottom soda blasted and the guy came in and laid out big plastic sheets under the boat to collect everything. Afterward, he just folded up the plastic sheets and disposed of everything. Don't forget to plug all the thru holes with rags!
