Russ, the pole itself is indeed 2". All the miscellaneous support pieces
were made from 1" tube and matching handrail fittings. All the tube was
heavy wall (.065). 8 feet of 2" tube was less than $100 at Metal
Supermarket.

Hi Jim,

I might be doing a pole mount this year too.

Can you double check the pole diameter? It looks to maybe scale as a
2" comparing to nearby stanchion in the pics.

I used a Questus pole and dampened mount over the backstay of a 1980 C for 7
years. It looked and worked great.

On Calypso we glassed in an aluminum pole and used a prototype of the radar
mount sold by PYI with a powerboat trim tab actuator to give us the ability to
tilt the mount if we planned on being heeled over for a long time. The tilt
function has not been used in the PNW but I would use it on a long offshore
delivery.

Hello - does anybody have experience mounting a radar mast/pole on a C? I
have some ideas - there seem to be limited options, given the transom, etc. --
but it would be great if anybody has some pictures of successful installations

thanks!

Hans,

Take a look at Arpeggio1984.info web site under 2007 projects. Only on pic
there showing where to locate on port just forward of stern cleat and adjacent
aft pulpit for support. All Edson hardware.
