Birders

The Rocky Ford CBC was held Thursday, Dec. 15 with nine participants. We found
92 species, about average for the count.
Two new count birds included a Brant found at Cheraw Lake by Nick Moore and
Mark Peterson (they had six species of geese at Cheraw) and four Sandhill
Cranes first seen as flyovers by Dan Maynard and Kathy Mihm Dunning and later
found standing on the ice at Holbrook Lake by Nick and Mark.

[cobirds] Harris's Sparrows - BCLP - Jeffco

2011-12-16 Thread mike
I was able to locate the two Harris's Sparrows in Bear Creek Lake Park
(BCLP) this morning. The two were seen in the same places as reported
previously. Both were with mixed flocks of sparrows - Tree, Song,
White-crowned, and juncos.

Adult Harris's Sparrow - along the edge of the road just east of the
Boat Inspection site.
1st year Harris's Sparrow - in the area near the Boat Launch area
along the lake shore.

[cobirds] Ten Tips for a Happy and Successful Christmas Bird Count

2011-12-16 Thread Ted Floyd

Hello, Birders.

It's great to see all the Christmas Bird Count (CBC) chatter here on COBirds.
CBC season...'tis the most wonderful time of year!

Say, here's an old COBirds post on doing CBCs in Colorado:

http://chbc.carolinanature.com/cbctips.html

It's seven years old, but I hope it's still at least somewhat useful.
