[cobirds] El Paso county Eastern(?) Bluebirds (pictures)

I am pretty sure these are Eastern Bluebirds. They were on Shumway road
about a half mile south of Squirrel Creek Rd in some olive trees that are
to the west of the road.

[cobirds] Cedar Waxwings in Boulder

2013-02-23 Thread George Oetzel
Interesting to see about Bohemian Waxwings in Niwot. We have had Cedar
Waxwings flocks in our back yard on Feb 20 & 22. On the 20th, there were 26
in our apple tree, and they quickly emptied the heated birdbath. On the
22nd, only 14 with similar effect on the birdbath.

[cobirds] Bohemian Waxwings & Harris's Sparrows, Boulder County

2013-02-23 Thread Nathan Pieplow
About 85 Bohemian Waxwings were on the SW corner of Spine and Orchard Creek
Lane in Gunbarrel just now (11:30 AM). No Cedars with them. Cole Wild
told me there were up to 500 Bohemians in this neighborhood yesterday.

Also, the 5 Harris's Sparrows originally reported by Bryan Guarente
continue at the house along Crane Hollow Road southwest of Hygiene.

[cobirds] Glaucous Gull continues at Pueblo Res. 2/23

2013-02-23 Thread Brandon K. Percival
Hi all,

I went over to the Pueblo Reservoir State Wildlife Area on the NW side of
Pueblo Reservoir this morning.  It was quite windy, though there were lots of
gulls present, including the young Glaucous Gull.  There were lots of
Ring-billed and few Herring Gulls present as well, though I couldn't pick
anything else out.  There were also several Bald Eagles, at one point five
immature birds on the ice together.  There were also lots of diving ducks, near
the ice-line as well.  Redheads, Canvasbacks, Lesser Scaup, Bufflehead were all
present, also a male Northern Pintail and some Gadwall.  Not much else going on
out there, very windy for sure.

Last weekend, the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker continues in Pueblo City Park, the
Arkansas Valley Audubon trip on Saturday (16 Feb), led by Mark Yaeger saw it,
and I saw it on Sunday (17 Feb), just east of the pond in the middle of Pueblo
City Park.

Good birding,

Brandon Percival
