[cobirds] Re: Exciting news regarding Colorado's coolest bird!

2014-02-10 Thread Jason Beason
Carolyn Gunn wanted me to let everyone know that she does this Black Swift
research as a volunteer citizen scientists and NOT as an employee of
Colorado Parks and Wildlife. She didn't want her supervisor to think she
was doing this on the side and not taking care of her fish (her job for CPW
is a fish pathologist)!

My apologies Carolyn!

Just got word, the bird is present at Fountain Creek Regional Park, El Paso
County.  I think in the same area as yesterday, though I don't know for sure.

[cobirds] Re: Meadowlark below the feeders, Larimer County

2014-02-10 Thread The "Nunn Guy"
FYI to follow this post, we've had Western Meadowlark (18-20+) throughout
the winter so they (some) definitely stick around in winter in Nunn. Also,
3 Lapland Longspurs at our front feeders yesterday and today.

[cobirds] American Dippers in Adams CO tonight

2014-02-10 Thread bomaa...@yahoo.com
Hi Cobirders
I found two American Dippers in Clear Creek {Adams Cty.) today at about
5:15 pm. The birds were not together. One was just downstream of Lowell
Blvd. The other was seen east of the bike path bridge, 400 yards or so east
of Lowell Blvd. I have seen single birds a few times since I posted last.

[cobirds] Woodcock searchers, a warning again

2014-02-10 Thread Brandon K. Percival

I just read on a facebook post, that an SUV was broken into today at the
parking lot at Willow Springs Road, at Fountain Creek Regional Park, which is
where people are parking to go see the American Woodcock.  This parking lot,
has been a problem for that in the past too.

It sounds like many people were able to see the woodcock most of the afternoon.
I think from 1-5pm is the best time to look for it, since it is warmer and the
ground might not be as frozen, as it is early in the day.  The bird has found a
good place to probe in the mud to find the earthworms.
