[cobirds] Lake Dillon, Summit County
Wed 8 a.m. - 2/19/14 Northern Shrike perched a-top willows on Lake Dillon on bike path midway between Town of Dillon and Dillon Preserve Awesome; haven't seen a Shrike in that location for couple years; perhaps a harbinger of good things to come. [cobirds] Juniper Titmouse, El Paso Co, Wed
Hi COBirders, Taking advantage of temporary non-gale force winds, we walked in Garden of the Gods Park this morning. Birds were sparse, but we did find a small flock of Juniper Titmouse(s?) in the Spring Canyon area, on the shaded rocky slopes above the creek bed. These are not particularly rare, but while they are supposed to there, they aren't always detected. Also seen were several Townsend's Solitaire and White-breasted Nuthatch, and a Prairie Falcon guarding the Gateway Rocks. [cobirds] Green Valley Ranch Rec Pond - Denver
I went to look for the previously reported Greater Scaup at the Rec pond at GVR (northeast corner of Tower Rd and Green Valley Ranch Blvd, in Town Center Park). The scaup were there along with a dozen other types of waterfowl including; Redhead, Canvasback, Northern Pintail, Ring-neckeds, etc. The best bird there for me today was a Greater White-fronted Goose. I had somehow managed to miss that one so far this year. I'll eventually have pictures up of the bird showing me the black belly stripes. [cobirds] Larimer County - FOS Mountain Bluebird
A harbinger of spring, despite the high winds…While walking our dog, I was privileged to see a beautiful male Mountain Bluebird flitting around the grasses in the Molly Moon Meadow near Red Feather Lakes this morning. I just hope he still has many friends, after our Mountain Bluebirds were devastated last spring when they tried to avoid a spring storm by migrating down to Fort Collins, where reportedly hundreds died of starvation and/or freezing. Very few returned to the hills to breed last summer. Chuck Bell Livermore, CO Sent from Windows Mail -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Colorado Birds group.
