[cobirds] American Dipper in Adams Co. today

2013-03-05 Thread bomaa...@yahoo.com
Hi CoBirders
I went back to look for the American Dipper in Clear Creek (Adams
Co.)tonight. It was in the same location at the I 76 bridges, east of
Lowell Blvd. This is a spot that I've found them in past years. Mallards
also nearby.

Hi Birders
Peggy Gonder and I found a lone adult American Dipper in Clear Creek, east
of Lowell Blvd (Adams Co) today at about noon. We couldn't see any young in
the nest site. The first Dipper record this season was Nov. 12, 2011. Past
late record was March 1, 2011.

2012-01-31 Thread bomaa...@yahoo.com
Hi Birders
I just found a single American Dipper in Clear Creek at the I-76
bridges, east of Lowell Blvd.(Adams Co). I spent about 30 min.
watching it feed and bathe below the weat bound bridge. Along with
expected diving and dipping behavior, it also did sort of a hobbled
walk along the bridge footing, almost like a shorebird.

[cobirds] American Dipper in Adams Co today

2011-12-13 Thread bomaa...@yahoo.com
Hi Birders
In an attempt to know how regular American Dippers are in Adams Co.. I
watch Clear Creek regularly. I made two Am. Dipper sightings this
aftermoon. The first was about 100 yards east of Lowell Blvd, near
where wires cross the bike path, at 4:15 pm. The second was on the
upstream side of the bike path bridge a few minutes later. I cannot
comfirm two birds. I could not relocate a Dipper as I returned to my
car at Lowell and 55th Pl. This would be an easy distance to fly,
although I didn't notice any motion. Other birds seen: Am. Kestrel,
Belted Kingfisher, Downy Woodpecker, Mallards, and Gadwall.

creek from Lowell downstream 200 to 300 yds to the bike path bridge
over Clear Creek. Other birds seen Gadwall and Belted Kingfisher.

Hi Birders
I relocated an American Dipper east of the Lowell Blv'd bridge (Adams
CO.) today at 4:20 p.m. I went down the bike path until I could look
down stream over the check dam. It flew downstream and I was not able
to relocate it. A Great Horned Owl was near the bridge carrying the
bike path over Clear Creek.

Hi briders
I relocated an American Dipper in Clear Creek, below the little dam
just east of Lowell Blv'd.(Adams Co). This is the favored spot now.
Best views are from the bike path or Lowell bridge. Parking on either
side of Lowell and 55th Pl. I watched off and on from 8 AM to to 8:51
AM. An American Kestrel, Nothren Flicker, Mallards and Gadwall were
also around.

I relocated an American Dipper below the bridge on Lowell Blv'd over
Clear Creek (Adams Co.) at 4:55 pm. The bird was near the bank and
easy to see both in the water and dipping on rocks and shore. This
location is right at Lowell Ponds SWA. My first sightng this winter
was Nov.12, 2011.
