First off, thanks to Nathan for sounding the alarm about the changes in
progress at Barr Lake. The increase in the water level completed last year
has almost certainly contributed to the reduced number of summer and
year-round residents that we have caught/documented this season. As Nathan
notes, we are just becoming aware of the full extent of the habitat
destruction that is happening right now, but it is likely to be VERY BAD
for the birds that call Barr Lake home during some or all of the year.

Our numbers today were fairly normal for this time of year; hoping this
continues. Here's the list of today's 46 new birds:

Hammond's Flycatcher 1 (very late!)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2
Orange-crowned Warbler 5
Yellow Warbler 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Myrtle 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon's 8
Common Yellowthroat 1
Wilson's Warbler 20
Green-tailed Towhee 2
Chipping Sparrow 1
Lincoln's Sparrow 3

Back at the station tomorrow morning! If you would like to visit, we have
one-hour slots (up to 15 visitors at a time) from 7:30-8:30 most weekday
