[cobirds] Colorado Christmas Bird Count update
This might be a record breaking Christmas Bird Count season for Colorado, already we are up to 209 species (usually right around 200, last year was lower than 200). Over 650,000 birds were counted on Colorado Christmas Bird Counts this past week. I'm waiting for a few more counts to be entered into the CBC Website, and details for a few rarities. Thanks to all the compilers, participants, and feeder watchers who helped on Colorado Christmas Bird Counts this winter, and in years past. If you want to look over any of the results, please do so. Go to https://netapp.audubon.org/CBCObservation/CurrentYear/ResultsByCount.aspx Then United States Then Colorado and then all the Colorado CBCs will appear, click on one and check the results. If you see any issues, please let me know. If you helped with a Christmas Bird Count this year, and your name isn't on the participant list, just send me an e-mail, and I'll get you added. Hopefully all the results will be entered by the end of February, and I will be finished reviewing all the results by early April. A big THANKS to all the Colorado Bird Count Compilers and participants, we were able to get 49 Colorado Christmas Bird Counts completed in Colorado, this past winter. Even with this strange year, and not all the counts being held, Colorado still found 198 countable species on Christmas Bird Counts, plus six other species during count week, that weren't seen on count day on any count. [cobirds] Colorado Christmas Bird Count update
Hi all, The Colorado Christmas Bird Count season is over for 2000-21 (the last day a count could be held was yesterday January 5th). Certainly less counts happened this winter, than usual. So far, 14 counts have been entered into the Christmas Bird Count website for Colorado. I've looked them over, and we are at 157 species so far. In a normal CBC schedule, Colorado gets a little over 200. We'll see how close we get to that number, when all the results get entered by the end of February (hopefully most well before that). Thanks to everyone who helped with a Colorado CBC this winter, a big thanks to the compilers who were able to have their Christmas Bird Count this winter and organize a safe Christmas Bird Count. Hopefully December 14, 2021-January 5, 2022, we'll have a normal Christmas Bird Count schedule in Colorado, and everyone can join in again. Looking forward to seeing all the results and will get another update, when I get them all.
