Alamosa County: --A juvenile YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was reported by Komar about 10 miles south of Alamosa at a wet culvert crossing underneath Rd S 112 a few miles north of the Conejos County line on August 6. Boulder County: --2 American Three-toed Woodpeckers were reported by Miller on the Mount Audubon trail on August 9. Gunnison County: --An ALDER FLYCATCHER first reported by O'Brien on July 23 was refound by Kaempfer on August 9 along US 50 mile 172.9 about 1.2 miles West of the junction CR44, and 3 miles west of the junction with Waunita Hot Springs road. Hinsdale County: --A pair of American Three-toed Woodpeckers was reported by Zerbi at the Middle Creek Trail on August 10. Larimer County: --A NEOTROPIC CORMORANT was reported by Komar in a small pond near Timnath Reservoir between County Roads 76 and 78 on August 14. --Several American Three-toed Woodpeckers were reported by Dunning at The Blue Lake Trail near Cameron Pass on August 8. --A pair of American Three-toed Woodpeckers was reported by Dunning at the Chapin Pass Trailhead in RMNP pn August 11. Montrose County: --A LESSER NIGHTHAWK (male) was reported by Dexter at the Nucla Sewer Ponds on August 8. Pueblo County: --A male Northern Cardinal was reported by Chartier on Rt 96 west of Pueblo Blvd near the sign for Stonemoor Hills on August 14. Routt County: --Several Barrow's Goldeneye were reported by Moulton at the Flattops Winderness Lakes on August11. The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, August 15 is to Cherry Creek State Park led by Mary Cay Burger (303-771-3431). Meet leader at 7:30am at the West Gate. State Parks Pass required. This will be a half day trip- bring extra water but lunch is optional. The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, August 16 is to Gregory Canuon inp Boulder. Leader will be Paul Slingsby, pasling...@comcast.net. Meet leader at 7:30 a.m. for a half-day trip, lunch optional. Bring $3 for parking permit, plenty of water and good hiking shoes for a moderate hike looking for warblers, buntings and tanagers. Take Hwy. 36 to Boulder, exit Baseline Drive. Go west on Baseline, crossing Broadway and continue 1.5 miles. Past Chautauqua Park, the road forks. Stay on the left fork until you come to a T-intersection at the base of Flagstaff Mountain. The main road continues right up the mountain. Turn LEFT up Gregory Canyon Road. Continue up the hill and park on the road. Purchase a parking permit (unless a resident of Boulder County.) Place the money in the permit container and the sticker on your windshield. Meet leader Paul Slingsby at 7:30 am in front of the Permit Station Sign with the trail map at the top of the hill. Note- This is a change in leader from the newsletter.
