Cobirders:
As of 10:00 A.M. this morning, there was an adult nonbreeding Common
Loon off the Boat Launch Area of Bear Creek Lake Park. The bird was
close to the shore at times and stayed in the small bay off the Boat
Launch area - my companion Rob Raker took some photos from 25-30 yards
distance. Might be a good opportunity for photographers to get some
close-up shots of a loon and others good looks through your binocs.
We also found the American Tree Sparrow flock that was first observed
on Saturday in the same area. Rob took some good shots of the tree
sparrows and a Song Sparrow with a distinctly white splotchy forehead,
but we did not see the White-throated Sparrow seen on Saturday.
Highlights at Red Rocks were the pair of Prairie Falcons on Cave Rock
(take Entrance 3 into Red Rocks and stay right at first fork in the
road). Lots of birds at the Red Rocks feeders, but no rarities yet.
