Weather: We experienced clear skies and moderate SE winds all day. The sky had a haze which made it seem as though binoculars were not quite focused. The cloudless skies made it a challenge to locate birds. Raptor Observations: Thank you to Gary Rossmiller, Mariane and Dave Erickson for helping on the ridge today. Migrating raptors were seen far and wide. We had several close birds on the ridge, a dark morph adult red tailed Hawk, an immature bald eagle, an adult light ferruginous hawk, and several American kestrels. Otherwise birds were flying very high, or along the western ridge. Non-raptor Observations: White throated swifts. The Dakota Ridge trail is now open for all uses beginning tomorrow. Hawk watchers no longer need to wear high visibility vests. The trail is mostly dry, and the snow is mostly melted making an easy traverse to the top through burned areas of the fire. Predictions: Good weather is predicted for tomorrow. ======================================================================== Report submitted by DAVID HILL () Dinosaur Ridge - Denver Field Ornithologists information may be found at: http://www.dfobirds.org More site information at hawkcount.org: https://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=123 -- -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
