Bill Hackos and I took a spring walk in Prospect Park on Friday 23 March. We
usually head their each week. This week:

Song Sparrows singing
Black-capped Chickadees singing
Lesser Goldfinch singing
Red-winged Blackbirds singing
White-breasted Nuthatch singing

Downy Woodpecker
Northern Flicker — digging nest holes

Cooper's Hawk eating a small rodent
Red-tailed Hawk

Double-crested Cormorant
Canada Goose
Mallard
Gadwall pair
Bufflehead
American Wigeon
American Crow

At Red Rocks, we watched the Peregrine Falcon go into and out of a nesting hole
in Ship Rock.
Watched it on land and preen on a tree stump on the hillside opposite until it
got too dark.

American Kestrel pair toward #3 Entrance — nest hole in tree by roadside

Common Raven on nest at Ship Rock. More Ravens around.
