[cobirds] Red-necked Grebe- Cherry Creek SP

2020-09-24 Thread Joey Negreann
Currently looking at a Red-necked Grebe out on the water near the damn
swimming with a sizable group of Western Grebes. I’m scoping from The west
facing side of swim beach and have a pretty good view. But might be able to
see it from tower loop too.

In non-breeding, a little smaller but stouter then westerns; Yellow bill,
white ear patches contrasting with dark cap noticable; Dusky neck

If I were to spot where the grebe was on the water it’d be about here:

[cobirds] Red-necked Grebe , Cherry Creek SP

2010-10-13 Thread Jxdrummo
Co birders :

The adult Red-necked Grebe was present this afternoon at Cherry Creek
SP amongst the 100 + Western Grebes in the NE corner by the dam wall .
Also a juvenile Sabine's Gull in the SE corner. No scoters or loons however
which is what I was hoping for.

[cobirds] Red-necked Grebe, Cherry Creek SP

2010-10-05 Thread Glenn Walbek
Folks,

This morning I observed a juvenile plumage, Red-necked Grebe on Cherry Creek
Reservoir. The bird was originally near the marina, but flew back into the
southeast cove where it was last seen. Also at CCSP, 2 Red-necked Phalaropes,
1 juvenile plumage Sabine's Gull and many Franklin's Gulls.
