[cobirds] White-throated Sparrow - SW Denver

2022-01-21 Thread Doug Ward
Returned to Denver this week after spending the holidays in North Idaho and
was pleasantly surprised that the adult WHITE-THROATED SPARROW which was
present throughout November and early December is still around today (Fri.,
21 Jan.’22) at our place in southwest Denver (Athmar Park neighborhood,
Denver Co.). We headed north in mid-December, so after six (6) weeks of
empty feeders wasn’t expecting it to be around, and it took a couple of days
for activity to pick up, but seems like we are now back to normal - again, a
very nice surprise. This is a similar experience to the one we had last
Winter with a young Harris’s Sparrow, and as such suspect the White-throat
will stick around through March/April (hope I didn’t just jinks things), so
if you’d like to try for the sparrow for your year list, …, just let me know
separately.

Happy New Year,

Doug

[cobirds] White-throated Sparrow-SW Denver

2021-11-08 Thread Doug Ward
Noticed an adult WHITE-THROATED SPARROW in our yard (Athmar Park
Neighborhood, SW Denver, Denver Co.) yesterday (Sun. 7 Nov.’21), but waited
on posting until I saw him today (Mon, 8 Nov.’21) to see if it was going to
be repeatable. Hoping he’ll stick around all Winter like the young Harris’s
we had last year, but not counting on it, so enjoying for now. Granted not
that rare, but fun none-the-less, so if you would like to try for the
sparrow, just let me know separately.

Good Birding,

Doug

[cobirds] White throated sparrow in Denver

2012-10-20 Thread Glenn Rodriguez
I too have had a white throated sparrow for the last several days. It forages
below the thistle feeder. The lesser goldfinches are still here at the feeder.
Have also had a white crowned sparrow and a song sparrow. The song sparrow
and the white throated sparrow are a first seen in my yard.
