professor tenure-track position to complement current areas of expertise on our 
faculty.



Simmons College was chartered in 1899 and opened in 1902; the School of Library 
and Information Science (SLIS) began with the College. Today, the MS in Library 
and Information Science has approximately 700 students on two campuses and 
online, and an additional 50 students in our PhD program. The MS degree program 
is a top ranked program in U.S. News & World Reports. SLIS attracts 
students from all over the United States and the world. Graduates of our

We seek faculty who can teach in two or more of these areas:



* Data mining and big data

* Databases

* Visualization

* Programming (Java Script and Python)

* Web development

* Linked data and other semantic web languages and technologies (RDF, SPARQL, 
OWL, JSON, etc.)



Candidates will be expected to teach, conduct research, contribute to 
curriculum development in the school’s curriculum, and provide service to the 
College and the information professions. Experience in designing and delivering 
online courses is highly desirable.



Requirements: Applicants must have already earned a doctoral degree in Library 
and Information Science, Information Studies, or an appropriate related field, 
and who can demonstrate excellence in teaching, have a viable research agenda, 
and show the potential for leadership in scholarship and professional service. 
Candidates who are hired without the doctoral degree will be expected to 
complete this degree within two years of their hiring date.



Salary is negotiable, commensurate with experience and qualifications. 
Opportunities to teach include: undergraduate, master’s and doctoral level 
courses face-to-face in Boston and at the SLIS West program at the Mount 
Holyoke College campus in South Hadley, Massachusetts, as well as online.

objects, research support tools, and web content.
Designs and leads usability testing efforts for the Libraries’ web presence.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in library or information science.
Demonstrated experience in website design and/or development.
Familiarity with web authoring tools and content management systems.

design.

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

The University Library at UNC Chapel Hill invites applications from

new position of Assessment Librarian. Reporting to the Head of User Experience 
and Assessment, the Assessment Librarian is responsible for coordinating,

The Assessment Librarian works closely with staff from User Experience and 
Assessment, Library Information & Technology, Research & Instructional

Librarian.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Assists in collecting, providing access to, and maintaining needed information 
of enduring value on past and ongoing science missions in print and non-print 
formats for scientific, technical, and support staff;
Creates scope statement outlining record types and series for active curation; 
exercises discretion and independent judgment in description of series and 
resources;
Manages daily and recurring business processes related to budget oversight for 
the archives branch of the STScI Library; works with Chief Librarian to plan 
and justify archives budget.Executes and controls archival expenditures.
Establishes requirements for institutional archives digital preservation

Hopkins University Archives;
Provides guidance to institute offices and departments on identifying and 
preserving records of value; creates a simplified process for digital and print

other offices to ensure successful transfer and version control of born-digital 
materials into pre-processing storage and end-point digital preservation system;

[CODE4LIB] veraPDF 1.8 released

The latest version of veraPDF is now available to download. This release 
includes new PDF information in the features report and automatic configuration 
of the features extractor when applying custom policy profiles. There are also 
a number of low level PDF fixes and improvements which are documented in the 
latest release notes:

This is the final release of veraPDF under the PREFORMA project. From 
September, veraPDF will make the transition from a funded project to a stand 
alone open source project.
