Our originating body, the Oregon University System library board, officially closed this summer. We’re contacting leaders at other library organizations to learn how their library conferences are run, hoping to learn more. Would anyone from Code4Lib be willing to respond to such a query off-list? I have looked on the website, but could not find the appropriate person to contact. Sorry to hear about the demise of Online NW but hopeful it can rise from the ashes. My first conference as a professional was Online NW. In any event there really isn't any one person who can adequately stand for Code4lib Conferences. The Conferences are run from the same template[0] and the results vary from year to year. 2015 lesson here [1] I for example can tell you my experience on the planning for 2013 but I'm willing to bet people in other years will have variations of the same theme to say about getting the conference going. [CODE4LIB] Code4Lib Conference and Organization Query
Dear Code4Lib, I am co-chairing the Online Northwest conference committee, which is going through a transition year. Our originating body, the Oregon University System library board, officially closed this summer. We’re left with some questions about how the conference can continue, legally and financially as well as in terms of its mission. We’re contacting leaders at other library organizations to learn how their library conferences are run, hoping to learn more. Would anyone from Code4Lib be willing to respond to such a query off-list? I have looked on the website, but could not find the appropriate person to contact. Thanks in advance, Blake Galbreath -- Blake L. Galbreath Systems Librarian Eastern Oregon University One University Boulevard La Grande, OR 97850 (541) 962.3017 bgalbre...@eou.edu
