anishek commented on CASSANDRA-9023:

I had tested with CassandraTables#insertWithoutTTL.

You are probably testing
CassandraTables#readWriteOperationsWithUpdatesHavingAPercentage,
this test needs a pre requisite where in the insert test should be run manually
(we wanted to change partition keys/ entries per partition etc so we did not
explicitly have a dependency between them) to prepare cassandra with some data
and simulate run time use case of update/insert with some percentage(here 70%)
or operations being update. Since you would have run the test in isolation you
are getting the null pointer as there is no data in db.

I have retested it and I can recreate it with the same configuration as above.
In the log files though there are no Exceptions.
One thing i noticed is if i change the memtable_flush_writers to 2 the error
did not come for the run.

Yeh problem looks like, is definitely because it could not find the file. I
have not since tested it again with the the same load, mostly using less
threads now to insert data. I will try and retest it once more to verify the
same. Might not able to update this immediately.

---
Attachment: out_system.log

after a few more trials I was able to spot some errors in the system.log,
attaching the log here for reference.

Looks like test-t1-jb-78 is opened by SSTableReader in some batch but then
later there is compaction that is happening on it where in the file is not
found. Any idea what is happening?
