[jira] [Updated] (NETBEANS-2093) Show method structure in hints on hover

Bo Andersen updated NETBEANS-2093:

Description:
Netbeans dosn't show any useful information if PHPDoc is missing. As PHP get
more and more type safe, relying on the doc-block seems to be a bad choice.

!image-2019-02-07-16-53-57-447.png!

In other IDEs you actually can se method declaration, paramters and return
type, this could be very useful in Netbeans as well :)

> We need a consistent behaviour in the each editor for "select next/previous
> element". It is so inconsistent and it is only working well in the java
> editor.
> I will create subtickets for each editor. Next element selection should be
> separated for those characters in strings: `$-,.;:SPACE{}()[]\/'"*+#` and
> maybe some others but I don't know.
> Examples:
> "This is my string"; So is the cursor in "my" and I hit the "Select next
> element action", it should select "my" after hitting it again, it should
> select the whole string w/o quotes. After hitting again, it should select the
> string with quotes.
> "test \-r test"; Cursor is before "-" and hitting the action, it should
> select the whole string, or -r I don't now. In IntelliJ it selecets the whole
> string. If the cursor is before the "r" it selects "r" first, aftert hitting
> again, it selects the whole string.
> "^3.0.0"; Cursor is before "3", after hitting the action, it should select
> "3". After hitting again, it should select the whole string.
> It is a bit complicated to describe but for strings it should be consistent
> in Java, JS, CSS, SCSS, LESS, HTML, C/C++, PHP, JSON and so on. As I said I
> will create sub tickets for the editors.
> The next thing is that there is more than strings. So the next consistency is
> needed for blocks like if, for, functions, classes etc. All of this alreday
> exists more or less for Java and JS but not that good. Please have a look
> into IntelliJ or WebStorm and hit ctrl + w for this feature. It works like a
> charm on each editor.
> So "Select previous element" should work the other way around to unselect the
> last selection.
> So there we have HTML, XHTML and XML, where it should work too. It is only
> working ok in HTML but not perfect.
> Regards
> Chris

> Atm, when you do the select next element action inside a string, it will
> ignore everything inside the string, no whole word, no being aware of spaces
> or other characters like /\-_.;, it will select the whole string WITH quotes,
> which is a complete different behaviour than in java.
> "test tests tests" -> cursor inside of the second tests word -> hit the

> quotes -> hit action again -> do it further for next block/word w/o brackets

modest created NETBEANS-2091:

Summary: Netbeans froze on large project git branch switch
 Key: NETBEANS-2091
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-2091
 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Bug
Affects Versions: 10.0
Reporter: modest
 Attachments: nb-error-log.xml, nb-error-modules-disabled.xml,
nb-error-modules.xml, nb-error-usr-config.xml, nb-error.xml

At time of error, Netbeans had two Gradle parent projects, with one sub-project
from each open.  Performed a branch switch on one of the Gradle parent project
which is quite large.  The branch switch caused a re-index file changes etc.
which ended up freezing.

Very often, double-click on an element of the navigator window does not move
the cursor to the element into the source. Right-click>"Go to source" has the
same problem.

It highlights the asked element few seconds without moving into the source,
then the navigator goes back to select the current cursor position (which has
not changed), so the cursor didn't move to the selected element.

It happens in PHP, javascript, css...

[jira] [Comment Edited] (NETBEANS-2004) Gradle modular project shows errors in all classes, but tasks run fine

I run into something similar.

I have a simple gradle modular project with one test-class
'PropertyChangeListenerTest.java' and netbeans is showing me an error on the
import statement of 'org.junit.Test;' -> "package org.junit is not visible..",
but I can run the test successfully in netbeans.

Tested with netbeans build from source 03.Feb.2019 - commit hash
1340caf09590c9e0d60b923665b975644241b8bc

Evaluation of 'module-info.java' has worked for me this time, only import of
'org.junit.Test' shows error.

Expected behavior: netbeans can import 'org.juni.Test' and does not show me an
error.

!Bildschirmfoto 2019-02-06 um 17.22.17.png!

Sample project:

[^gradleJava.zip]

Please take a look at https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-2024

maybe this is something similar.

I could also not use the netbeans-gradle-project with a modular setup and
opened there an issue also:

[jira] [Created] (NETBEANS-2089) Support for Intel Compiler Suite on Windows

2019-02-07 Thread JIRA
Stefan Strömer created NETBEANS-2089:

Summary: Support for Intel Compiler Suite on Windows
 Key: NETBEANS-2089
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-2089
 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Wish
  Components: cnd - Toolchain
Reporter: Stefan Strömer

Since the C/C++ Plugin supports the Intel Compuiler Suite (icc, icpc, ifort) on
Linux, I'm wondering if you could add support for the Intel Suite for the
Windows Platform too.
Our team is developing mixed Java/FORTRAN Software and uses the Intel FORTRAN
compiler for the Windows and Linux platform.
It would be a great help for us if we could use the same IDE for both
platforms, and benefit from the remote build option in netbeans.

[jira] [Assigned] (NETBEANS-1783) Support for JEP 330: Launch Single-File Source-Code Programs

> I've been doing Advent of code and found myself wanting to write, run and
> debug Single-File Source-Code Programs as defined by JEP 330. See
> [https://openjdk.java.net/jeps/330.] I think this feature could be useful to
> people who know Java, want good IDE support, and want to write scripts
> without having to resort to a different language. I also think this feature
> could be useful in an educational setting to quickly get students up and
> writing their first lines of Java without having to learn about project
> structure. Catering to these audiences could help with increasing the
> adoption of Netbeans.
> There's recently been some discussion about changing the default project type
> in Create new project dialog. Maybe Single-File Source-Code programs could be
> added there as well?
> Currently you can open and edit individual files but there is no way to run
> and debug them.
