[jira] [Created] (NETBEANS-4031) Recurring NullPointerException requiring restart

2020-03-17 Thread Chris Breen (Jira)
Chris Breen created NETBEANS-4031:
-

 Summary: Recurring NullPointerException requiring restart
 Key: NETBEANS-4031
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-4031
 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: Chris Breen
 Attachments: messages.log

Brand new install of NetBeans, create a project, and occasionally when trying
to build or run it, the bottom left corner says "Saving
org.NetBeans.Samples.ClassA", which is not the name of my project and thus
throws the NullPointerException.  The only way to "fix" the problem is to
restart NetBeans, at which point it may work for a few minutes, a few hours,
or nope, that's about as long as it goes a few hours.

> Search ("Find in project") finds nothing  in "absent" files - until I scan

> I've noticed, that this problem doesn't appear on Windows 7 (at least, for

Geo B: Thank you! OK, good, so your IDE was indeed running on a recent Java
version. The patch should fix the bug in the next NetBeans version.

(And I don't think the bug actually appears on Java 8 either, since that one
doesn't support HiDPI scaling on Windows.)

[jira] [Commented] (NETBEANS-3942) Breakpoint background color in FlatLaF prevents reading text

Karl Tauber commented on NETBEANS-3942:
---

Seems to occur when switching from (any) light to dark LaF (or vice versa) and
have the "Switch to matching editor color profile" checkbox (in the balloon)
selected.

Have to use "Tools > Options > Fonts & Colors > Profile Restore" to fix the
colors.

The breakpoint background color in the color profile is correct, but it is not
used in the editor.

!image-2020-03-17-18-16-27-097.png!

It works correctly when switching color profile in Option dialog.

It does not work correctly (for some colors) when auto-switching color profile
on restart after LaF change.

This feature was implemented in
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-3497

[~lkishalmi] could you have a look at this problem? I have no idea...

I created a patch. By the way, Geo B, can you check which Java version your IDE
is running, by going to Help->About? The version returned by "java -version" on
the command line is not necessarily the same.

The upcoming fix might only work when the IDE is running Java 9 or above.

Maybe recently merged PR [https://github.com/apache/netbeans/pull/1990] has
something to do with this problem because HtmlRenderer.createLabel() is used to
render the popup (using a JTable).

When I replace HtmlRenderer.createLabel() with HtmlRenderer.createRenderer() in
SwitcherTable.prepareRenderer() it seems to work correctly.

This is a general problem in current master branch.

Occurs also with Windows and Nimbus L&F.

On the other hand it does not occur in NB 11.3

[jira] [Created] (NETBEANS-4026) SVN: New folders after merge aren't committed

2020-03-17 Thread Jira
Björn Tantau created NETBEANS-4026:
--

Summary: SVN: New folders after merge aren't committed
 Key: NETBEANS-4026
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-4026
 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: versioncontrol - Subversion
Affects Versions: 11.2
 Environment: Kubuntu 18.04
Reporter: Björn Tantau

When I add new folders in one svn branch (branch-to-merge) and then go to
another branch (trunk) and merge the changes from branch-to-merge into trunk
only changes to files are shown and committed.

The folders are shown as new in the projects view. Right clicking on them and
selecting Subversion -> Commit will commit them as expected. But committing
from the root folder will not show them.

 To reproduce:
 # Set up svn with two identical branches.
 # Switch to second branch through Subversion -> Copy -> Switch to Copy
 # Do some changes, add folders with new files and commit.
 # Switch to first branch.
 # Merge changes via Subversion -> Copy -> Merge Changes -> One Repository
Folder Since Its Origin
 # Commit Changes through Subversion -> Commit

Expected Result:

All changed files and all new files and folders are commited to the first
branch.

Actual Result:

Only changed files are commited to the first branch.

Workarounds:

Restart Netbeans or commit the new folders individually.

Notes:

svn status actually shows the new folders, so the issue seems to be with
Netbeans.

I marked this as critical because in a large project you might not notice the
missing folders and thus commit something incomplete to trunk and push it to
production with missing files. (this is exactly what happened to me)

No [~skygo]. No bubbles were shown.

I'm able to reproduce this easily daily when I take remote of my Windows 10
machine with Netbeans 11 as active screen.

This happens when I take remote of My Windows 10 PC from 32bit Windows 7 which
has less screen resolution than the PC where the Netbeans is running.

If the resolution of my screen is more than the resolution of the PC in which
Netbeans runs, I'm not facing this issue.

May be if you have Netbeans running in your machine, give me VPN and a remote
IP to take your system in Remote. So that I can reproduce this at your
Environment.

Note: This also happens when Netbeans runs in MAC environment.

> You can't be pixel perfect inside of the gui builder because of the automated

> Please see my screencast (swingAlignmentBroken.gif) for what I mean. It is

> The second screencast (matisseRearrangement.gif) shows that it grows below,

> I use the layout "Free Design". It should be really free. I mean in general

I can confirm that my original issue ( NETBEANS-3748, now resolved as  a
duplicate to this one) involves 'fractional scaling'.  In my case, 125%.

(Edited: removed some additional comments related font spacing, which seems to
be the JDK issue mentioned earlier.)

I probably also should say that things have changed with Netbeans 11.3 – at
least for me. Most of the examples I provided do not repeat in 11.3.  Some kind
of change in text justification seems to have taken place, and many project
files ('name.java') now receive additional space between the last two
characters, and now look more like 'name, jav a'. (Seems to happen in TreeCells
only) Other look distinctly uneven – it looks a bit as if bad kerning data was
applied. But at present this is not an issue for me.
